It's Monday...What are you reading?

I've been following several teacher blogs that share what they are reading every Monday.  They challenge other teachers to share what they are reading.  I've decided to challenge my students to share what they are reading every week on our blog.
Currently, I am reading Ten by Gretchen McNeil.  I just started this book last night and I am only on page 38.  I decided to read this book based on a recommendation from Mrs. Matzke.  While the book is written in third person, it is definitely written from the perspective of Meg.  Meg and her best friend, Minnie, are invited to a weekend party on an island.  When I say weekend party, I mean an entire weekend.  The story starts with them taking a a rather rough ferry ride to the island and being dropped off on an empty pier.  Foreshadowing is rather prevelant!  (Matzke already told me that people at this party start to turn in missing/dead.)  There already is a triangle of T.J. who likes Meg, but Minnie has a crush on him and Ben who is dating the girl who planned the party but is flirting heavily with Minnie.  I'm not quite sure about this book yet.  I have a feeling that I'll get pulled in rather quickly though and enjoy reading it.
I finished reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green this weekend.  Even though it was a rather slow moving book, I adored it!  I wanted to read this book based on recommendations from Amazon and the fact that it has won several awards.  Hazel has a terminal form of cancer and has been fighting for several years.  She finished high school by getting her GED and now takes college classes.  (This isn't too important to the story though.)  Her mother encourages her to reach out and be social.  To accomodate her mother's wishes, she attends a cancer support group.  She meets Augustus whose cancer is in remission.  She also befriends Issac who has eye cancer and has surgery to remove his only working eye in the story.  This is one of those books that you know will make you cry.  As I reading the sad part, I kept telling my eyes to not cry.  They didn't listen though.  I had tears rolling down my face.  It was a sad cry, but one of those "I love this so much" type of crys.  As far as recommending this book to others, I plan to recommend this book to Madie and Sheilah.  It seems like their type of book.
So, it is your turn.  What are you reading?  (Don't forget to put your first name at the end of your post.)

I am reading "The Day Before". This book is an amazing love story. It is about a girl named Amber and a boy named Cade. They are both facing tough times, Amber was switched at birth, her parents are divoreced and she is going to Texas aganist her will to see her real parents. I know it is over welming! Cade is going to be a organ doner for his dad. They meet at an aquarium and spend the day expressing feelings and having fun.
I love this book because it has mixed emotion romanance. I also like it because it expresses feelings freely. Abby is writing about Harry Potter, I can make a connection with Harry Potter because it has deep romance in it also and Victor asked Hermione to go to a romantic ball. Paige Metz

I am currently reading "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" by J.K. Rowling. I've read it before but don't really remember most of the details. So it starts out with Harry stuck at his Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia's house for the summer and he is pretty miserable. Then the Weasleys take him to see the International Quidditch Cup, and while they are there some Deatheaters (Voldemort's followers) torment nonmagical people and cast the "dark mark" which is the sign of Voldemort into the sky. Then Harry goes back to school to find a surprise there too. Hogwarts will be hosting the Triwizard tournament. The Triwizard tournament is a competition between the three schools of magic; Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons. Each school has a champion which is chosen by entering their name into the Goblet of Fire. Dumbledore has put an age line around the goblet so no one undewr the age of seventeen can put their name in. But someone manages to get around the line to enter Harry's name into the goblet and Harry gets chosen as the fourth contestent in the tournament. Tensions rise between Ron and Hermione because she agreed to go to the Yule ball with Viktor Krum who is the Duurmstrang champion. I think that this is somewhat similar to "The Day Before" because in that book Amber and Cade have a romance too.
I really like this book becuase it has a lot of adventure and mystery.

I am reading "Behind the Bedroom Wall" by Laura E. Williams. I'm only about half-way into the book but so far it's pretty good. The book is about this girl named Korinna, she is a very dedicated german girl to her sort of a club and it takes place in the 1940's in winter and right now Korinna and her friends are "Jew Haters". Obviously it is world war two but there is something wrong her mom and dad don't exactly agree with her with the Jew Hating so one night she heard "mice" in her wall so she moved her "shrank" and found a huge hole in her wall and inside that hole sat two jews. Thats all I've read so far. I really like this book because it's very mysterious because they always talk about how someone is getting taken away and I think that people who like history and world war two books would really enjoy it. I can really connect with paige because her doesn't know if he'll survive and mine with the jews in the wall.Clayton Roberts

I am reading "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson. So far, I am enjoying it because it is very adventerous and mysterious...I am always guessing and thinking about what will come next and I love that! It is about a young boy named Jim Hawkins who runs an inn with his parents near the sea. One day, a pirate called "Captain" ventures up to the inn and decides to stay with Jim and his parents. The family comes to realize that Captain has something other pirates want when a few men try to break into the inn and say they are after Captain. One night when the other pirates are being especially energetic and are saying they want the captain, Captain kills himself! Jim and his mother (the father had died a few days earlier from sickness) explore the room of the dead captain and find a treasure map. They round up some other men and get a boat and right now in the story, are on their way to "Treasure Island" with Long John Silver the cook (who from the back says that he will become evil). I can relate with Clayton because his story as well as mine are guess-what-will-happen-next stories.

I am reading "Jeremy Fink and the meaning of life." by Wendy Mass. The main characters in the book are Jeremy, Lizzy, Jeremy's mom, and Lizzy's dad. Jeremy gets a box in the mail. The box has multiple locks but there were no keys. There is a letter attacted to it and it says "I have seem to have lost to keys to the box, and I am very sorry." The box has initels on the top of the box and Jeremy relizes that it's his fathers. initels. Jeremy's dad sent him the box to recive when he was thirteen(and his birthday was in a couple of weeks). Jeremy and his bestfriend Lizzy have to find the keys to open the meaning of life. This book is great and it makes you think about life in general. It is one of those books that you can never put down. Like Olivia said in her post "I am always guessing and thinking about what will come next and I love that!" I feel the exact same way about this book and I think if you read it, you would feel the same way.

I am currently reading "Serpents Shadow" by Rick Riordan.I love the book. It is the last book in the Red Pyramid series. It starts out that the main characters have to find and stop the jury from finding Saitn guilty. If not they will never find out how to destroy a shadow. That will mean the end of the world as everyone knows it.The reason being is that a gigantic serphant will rise from the Daut(a magic dimention that holds prisoners and the underworld. The Daut is connected to the real world with majic.)(This book is like the egyption version of Percy Jackson)and swallow the sun.

I am currently reading Gone by Lisa McMahnn. This mysterious tale of Janie and Cabel is defintely an adventure. Since I am only on page 83, I am still learning and figuring out more and more. The main problem in this book is, Janie, can watch anybodys dream. Janie has this power. But is this power good or bad? From the knowledge I have gained so far, Janie grew up with only a mother that is drunk more than half of the time. Janie just discovered her dead beat of a father. Her father is very ill and in hospital. And Janie doesn't know if she cares, or if she doesn't. Cabel is Janies boy friend. Cabel and Janie love each other but Janie has an inner confliction because she knows that she isn't right for him. So she knows that some day when she goes down, she doesn't want him to come down with her. My opinion about this book is that it is very great and a definte page-turner. I admire the way that Lisa specifies each charactor as if she were that person. Also, Lisa's literary skills are top-notch. I also enjoy reading between the lines and feeling more depth into her stories. This book reminds of another book Lisa wrote called 'Dead to you'. These two books are similar because they both have something to do with a teenager feeling lost or uncertain about themselves. As Clayton Roberts said in his post/blog, "Something is wrong with her mother.". In my book, Janies mother is a mean and selfish women. ~~ Keilee Palmer 1st hour

I am reading the book called It's not Summer Without You by Jenny Han.I love this book. I love this book because it has a summer romance that is continuing on from the first book. It's basically a love triangle. The main character named Belly in my book likes this boy named Conrad and Jeremiah likes Belly a lot but Jeremiah and conrad are brothers in this book.A summary of this book is that the
mom of Conrad and Jeremiah named Sushana dies and the boys are depressed. Belly is also
depressed because she was close to Sushanna to because she used to visit the summer house every summer with her mom and brother and see them all summer. Anyway, Conrad is so depressed that he runs away from his college life but no one knows where he is at until later in the book. Jeremiah and Belly end up finding him at the summer house at Cousins beach. The only way Belly's mom even let her go on this look for Conrad was because she didn't know exactly what Belly was doing. Belly told her mom that she was going to her friend named Taylor's house to help her with a break-up problem that didn't really happen. And that is as far in my book as I am right now. I can connect my book to Paige's and Abby's book because they both have some love/romance in them all. - Chloe Barth

I was reading a book called "Middle School: Worst Years Of My Life". I have recently finished this book and have not started a new one yet. This book was a very funny book and it is the kind of book you never wanna put down. In this book the main character Rafe and his imaginary friend a.k.a. his dead brother Leo make a game where Rafe has 3 lives and he needs to break every school rule in the rule book. If he doesn't complete one he loses a life and so on. He also has a problem though, a bully named Miller the Killer. Miller ends up getting the book with all his drawings about breaking the rules and makes Rafe pay him a dollar a page. He eventually buys all his pages back but one thing he doesn't know is that Miller printed of copies of the entire book and sends them to his house where his mother saw them. One thing i didn't mention is that he has a step dad named Carl but Rafe calls him Bear because he is so big. Carl has a Zoom soda stash that Rafe sells at school just so he can buy the pages back from Miller. After all this he goes to the school very early in the morning and starts drawing on the school and after a couple of hours he has a huge portrait. The cops show up and are very surprised because they cant believe that he drew it all buy himself. Then the cops have him get into the police car. He gets home and went inside than he heard yelling and then he ran outside and his mom was pushed down the stairs by Bear and they had to call an ambulance. After all this Rafe gets suspended from school. Justin D

I am reading Bad Girls Don't Die, by Katie Alender. It is about a teenage girl, Alexis Warren, in highschool who thinks she doesn't "fit in". The only real friend she has is her 13 year old little sister, Kasey who has a creppy obsesion with dolls. One day Alexis meets a boy named Carter Blume and they seem to have a lot of things in common. After they start hanging out, Alexis starts to relize her sister starting to have odd behavior. Her eyes go from blue to green and she starts using old-timey language. Alexis trys to find out why her sister is having behavior changes, while keeping a friendship with Carter. I like this book because it has romantic parts and parts that seem like they are from horror movies, so you are always entertained. I think that Megan would like this book because she likes books that are based on ghost and typical horror movie stuff. I think I would like Olivia's book because of how much adventure there is in it.

I am reading "Untamed" by P.C Cast and Kristen Cast. This is the fourth book to the "Marked" series. The main characters are: Zoey, Stevie Rae, Erik, Aphrodite, Erin, Shaunee, Damien, Jack, and Neferet. In the last three books, Zoey had three boyfriends, Heath who is human, Erik who is now an adult Vampyre, but was a fledgling, and Loren Blake who is now dead but was an adult vampyre. Neferet had declared war on humans because they are pretty sure that the humans are the ones who are killing the vamps. Stevie Rae was just recently turned into the "stereo type" vampyre. Zoey used her powers to heal Stevie Rae and turn her back to her old self again. Although Stevie Rae is her old self again, she had turned into a new kind of vampyre. Shekinah, the High Preistess of all High Preistesses, has come to the House of Night to tell Neferet that she can't declare war against the humans. That's as far as I can go because that's as far as I have gotten. But I love this book, It's interesting. It's filled with hate, romance, and mystery. I agree with Clayton and Olivia, it is definitley filled with mystery and not knowing what will come next. This book is amazing and you should definitley read this series. ~Marissa Altman

I am currently reading the novel, "A Man Named Dave". It is an ending to a tragic but courageos story. The main character is David Pelzer, he was severely abused by his mother as an infant and now he fears for his younger brothers' safety. He works as a cook on an Air Force base in Florida. He attempts to fulfil dream of flying when he applies to "have wings", or to be on the refueling squad. After long and intense waiting he finds out that his paperwork was lost and he had to return as cook. To comfort through hard times he tries to visit his long lost grandmother. She is bitter and does not treat him as a being. Out of the blue Dave recieves an unexpected phonecall. One of the officers tells him that he should pay a visit to his sergeant. He notifies Dave that he does not like the paperwork mixup and he would be transfered immediatly to a base in California. Once there, Dave buys a small apartment in a large complex. After his encredibly long shifts he would come home to always find a strange woman staring at him. One summer day she asks to come along a trip to see his foster parents, Harold and Alice. He is hesitant at first but eventually they live together. They are very tense around eachother and they always seem to fight. One morning, Dave recieves a phonecall from the hospital. It is his girlfriend, Patsy. She is happy to announce she is pregnant with his baby. I am extatic to read more of this extraordinary story of courage and passion. It is a fantastic auto biography. I think it displays great quallities. I am considering reading "called" next. It was reccommended to me by Alex. He tells me it is a good story.

He said he got that name when he was in kindergarden some kid called him moose and he thought of it as a an insult. Now that he is the football star evreyone calls him moose. The reason they call him moose is because he gets through the line ans sacks the quarterback. The coach retired and they got a new one. He is tring to get moose to take steroids. I just finished reading Reached, by Ally Condle. I thought this book was very good. Cassia, Xander, and Ky all take turns narrating so it gets kind of complicated and you may have to turn back to the chapter to see who is narrating. The three of them are fighting to try and find the cure of this mutation that is killing many people in their society. Ky ends up getting the mutation and going "still", people can still hear, see, and breathe, they just can't move or talk. Cassia ends up finding out that the cure to the virus was in this one flower that her mother had saw. All of her family members and loved ones are alive except for her father. Her father died before she had found the cure. It was a slow start but continually got better as I kept reading. What Chloe was writing about Its not Summer Without You, I already read this book earlier this school year and loved it. The whole series is really good. ~Aubrey

I think that at the end he will be able to swish and shot and defintely make a shot. I think at the end if he makes a shot he gets a million dollars. I think he will make it.

I am currently reading "The Lost Boy" by Dave Pelzer. This sequel is about A litte boy named David who is abused, brutaly by his mother. The second book, the one I am reading, is the part where he finally escapes The Mother(that is what he calls her). At the beginning it says that the nurse of Thomas Edison Elementary School was worried about the bumps, cuts, and bruises David had all over his body. They soon called the police. David was taken away from The Mother and put into a foster home. I am currently at the part where they go to court. I would recommend this book to Rachel because she has read the first book and had great interest. The book that grabs my attention is Rachel's book becuase I am interested in the paranormal type of books/movies.

I am reading "The Duck Commander Family". This book is by Willie and Korie Robertson. This book is not the best book in the world, but it is ok. This book has a lot of little details that you really do not need to know. In the book Willie tells about his life that whats a lot of the book is about. Korie then makes comments about how her life is different from her husband Willie. Right now in the book Willie is talking about how Korie and him got together and got married. Once they got married they both went to college and finished then bought their fist house. The they had kids their names are John Luke, Will, Saddie, Rebecca, and Bella.

I am reading "Divergent" by Veronica Roth. I like this book because it has lots of action and some suspense but isn't rapid-fire danger. In the book Tris faces emotional problems. She was separated from her family and is in danger from the Erudite and her own faction the Dauntless for being Divergent. Later during intitiation her friends Will and Christina start going out and Tris has a secret relationship with her instructor Four, who she finds out is the son of the leader of her old faction. I also just found out that the Dauntless and the Erudite have been exchanging plans for a possible war on the other factions in Chicago. I think that this book is somewhat similar to "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" because it has romance and danger in it too. Cameron Kleen

I finished "Hawksmaid" by Kathryn Lasky over our four day weekend. I thought it was a pretty good book. One of the things I liked about this book was that it had a little bit of nonfiction mixed in with the fiction. I my favorite thing about this book was that it had a good amount of romance and the characters were heroic. This book is about Maid Marian,Robin Hood, and his Merry Men. This book has a little bit of a different take on a couple of the characters though. Maid Marian is a falconer or someone who hunts with and trains hawks. Maid Marian and Robin Hood are trying to save the people of England from Prince John. Prince John was stealing from the people and raising their taxes so they had very little food, if any. Prince John's older brother, King Richard, is away fighting the Crusades. King Richard is captured and will be sold to the highest bidder. Robin Hood steals five rubies and a sapphire to pay the ransom. While the ransom was being collected, Maid Marian is captured by an evil abbess. The abbess tries many different tactics to get Marian to tell where the ransom is so Prince John can use it to kill King Richard. One of these methods includes making Marian take care of the lepers at the castle. To save Marian, Robin Hood dresses up like a leper to get into the castle. Once he and his Merry Men are inside, they fight their way to Marian. The ransom is delivered and King Richard is freed. Marian and Robin Hood are together at the end where they finally admit that they love each other. I think that Paige's book is kind of similar because throughout my whole book it talks about little moments where you could tell that Marian and Robin Hood liked each other, and Paige's book was about romance.

I think I would like to try and read that book too.

I just finished "One Night That Changes Everything" by Lauren Barnholdt. The book is about Eliza who keeps a purple journal with everything she has been scared to do since sixth grade. Eliza gets a call from her ex-boyfriend, Cooper, saying to come to Cure, a club and she refuses to go but then he said that he has her purple journal. Well that's a deal breaker for her and she shows up with her two best friends. Cooper is a part of the 318's which is like a gang or club, kind of both. So Cooper is there not by himself, but with most of the 318s. He isn't the "president" of the club but his friend Tyler is. So Tyler tells Cooper to tell Eliza that she needs to go up to the hottest guy in the club and ask to dance with him. Eliza has to do this or they will post it on the internet. She does NOT want that to happen so she asks him to dance and they dance and they are done, she gets her journal back. Right? NOOO. She has to do like three or four more dares and some that could cost relationships for her. Well she does them but Cooper is helping her as much as he can because he feels sorry for her. Cooper knew that if he said anything to Tyler to let up, Tyler would just be meaner. Well she did all of the tasks and then gets it back. While spending time together, Cooper and Eliza hash out old feeling about their break up and then of course gets back together. I mean you knew it was going to happen because they still had feelings for each other. This book sounds kind of like "The Day Before" from what Abby was talking about. "The Day Before" is talking about teenagers going through a rough time and the characters in "One Night" are going through a hard time. I really liked "One Night That Changes Everything" you fell in love with the characters.

I am currently reading a book called "Somebody Please Tell Me Who I Am" by Harry Mazer. This is a unique book because it starts out talking about a play that a school is doing then flawlessly changes the subject to Ben going away to boot camp. Ben is the main character who is amazingly talented when it comes to theatre, but he is wasting all of his talent and the opportunity to be on a television show for boot camp. He promises everyone that it's just a camp and he's not going to war, but the first thing he has to do is go to Iraq where a bomb goes off, and he now has Traumatic Brain Damage (TBI). Everyone wonders how long he will be unconsious. This book is amazing because it completely pulls me in because I'm anxious to see when and if he will come out of his coma. I can connect to Clayton Robert's comment because his book is about World War II and my book is also about tradgic things that happen in war.

The book that I just finished is "Far From You" by Lisa Schroeder. This book is about a girl named Amy. Amy's mother died from cancer and Amy misses her a lot. Amy's dad gets re-married to a woman named Victoria. Amy doesn't like Victoria at all. From what it looks like Victoria doesn't eather. So when Victoria is expecting a baby things go from bad to worse. Victoria eventually has a little baby that she names Ivy and Amy wants nothing to do with her. I absolutally loved this book. It was ful of drama, love and romance. I would recomend this book to anyone. It's a very likeable book. I would deffiniatly recommend it to some of my closest friends who also love her books. Paiges book "The Day Before" also by Lisa Schroeder is another book that i would recommend. Lisa's books usually involve love, drama, and family. In my oppinion all of Lisa's books are the best and I will hopefully be able to read all of them. Now that i am dome with this book I am going to read "Prom&Prejudice" by Elizabeth Eulberg. This book looks really good and I can't wait to start it.

Right now, I'm reading Life as we Knew it but Susan Beth Pfeffer. It's about an asteroid hitting the moon, and when it does it knocks it closer to the Earth. When that happens, everyone goes into total chaos. The tides get way higher and there are crazy storms and electricity goes out on and off. Miranda and her family prepare for the worst and see what happens. I'm not too far into the book, so that's all I know so far. I really like this book so far, because I like the way it's written and how it pulls your attention in and keeps me you thinking about it all day. I think Olivia's book sounds good, because I like books that keep me reading.

I am reading "The Year of Secret Assignments". This book is by Jacklyn Moriarty and it is about three friends with completely different personality and all have lawyers for parents and are from a private school have to write letters to kids from another school. They each get three boys that aren't exactly exited about having these girls write to them. I don't really know why the book is titled The Year of Secret Assignments yet. I really like this book so far because there is a lot of stuff in it that can really happen. I can really relate with Paige because the stuff in her book can really happen. Katelyn

I am reading "Black Hawk and the War of 1832." The author is John P. Bowes and i think he is a good author. The Native Americans tribes of the north struggle to keep their homeland from the U. S. government. Unfortunately the President, Andrew Jackson, passed a law that forced the Native Americans to Oklahoma. Although the Native Americans resisted the United States forced them to move with the army. My opinion about this book is that I like it because I really like wars so I thought that it would be a great book. i agree with Chris K. because the Native Americans had spirits.

I am reading Eye Contact by Cammie Mcgovern. This book is from more the on person point of view. Also this book maybe be difficult to follow for some because it bounces back and forth between past and present. this book is about an Autistic kid named Adam who saw a murder take place. since he is autistic it is hard for him to tell the police what happened.so it up to his mother to code what Adam is trying to say.also his mother tells about when she was pregnant with Adam and who might be the father. the point i am at in the book everything is really coming into place. also i love this book it is so amazing how everything falls into to place from Cara (who is Adams mother) past into her present. i think the book Kate is reading would be a very good book. i think that because it about the girl that are best friend but there totally different would be cool to read about how they act torte each other. plus me and some of my best friend are really different but some how we all get along.~ Faughn

I am reading "Finding Jack" written by Gareth Crocker. It is a war story book which took place in Vietnam about a guy named Carson Fletcher. Carson lost his wife and daughter when a hurricane flooded their house and they drown. He tried to comitt suicide but it flopped and when he tried the second time he was listening to the radio and heard about the teenagers getting killed in the war so he decided to enlist. He was ordered to kill a yellow lab that was following the troop but he couldn't so antother soldier did. Fletcher felt sorry for the dog and defied orders and took the dog back to camp with them to help it heal. It is a suspenseful book and I can hardly put it down. My older brother read it and said it was a very good book but be ready with a tissue. I think Jeb U. and Chris K. would both like this book if they like to read war stories.

I just finished reading "The Last Thing I Remember" by Andrew Klavan. Charlie West is captured by the Homelanders and is about to be killed by being injected with poison. Charlie can't remember how he got in the prison/confinement camp. When strapped in the chair he can hear people talking about killing Yarrow, the secretary of homlend security. While he is strapped down to the chair he somehow breaks the leather straps and busts free. To escape the prison/confinement camp he jumps out of this black spray painted window into the world. He then steals a truck and drives into the forest and crashes. He then has to crawl his way into a sink hole to escape the gaurds. He has no where else to go until he sees a small opening to go farther into the sink hole and litlle does he knows when he goes farther in there is another sinkhole to go back up on the surface. When he is finally back on the surface and meets this lady and her daughter. She then takes him back to their house and while in the car Charlie figures out it has been a year since he remembers something in the past. While she lets Charlie take a shower, she calls the deputy about Charlie. After Charlie gets out of the shower and dressed he is quickly surrounded by cops. The cops say he is accused of killing Alex Hauser. Charlie keeps telling the detective that they are trying to kill Yarrow but the detective wont believe him. While walking to the police car somone pinches his handcuffs and breaks them. When he arrives at the actual prison and the cops open the door he makes a run for the driver door. When in the driver seat he make a dash out of the city. After Charlie ditched the police cruiser he finds this homeless women who helps Charlie find his way to Indian Canyon Bridge which is where Yarrow is planned to be killed. When there he hears the guy who he heard in the prison/confinement camp and sees him shoot the cops guarding the bridge. When Charlie is on the bridge he starts an epic battle with the guy who in battle says his name is Orton. When in battle Orton activates a car bomb in which in a click of a button it explodes. When Charlie knocks the remote out of Orton's hand he quickly runs to the remote and explodes the car before Yarrow is on the bridge. All of a sudden Charlie sees Orton fall and looks over to see Yarrow's guards shooting at him mistaking him for a terrorist. He then decides to run back into the woods for cover and to escape. I think Charlie didn't kill Alex Hauser because I think the government thought he could be a trouble maker in the future and just wanted to lock him up. I can relate to Lauryn's post because I like Duck Dynasty and I want to read the book.

I am almost done with my book "Maximum Ride Schools Out Forever" by James Patterson. It makes me look normal. It makes me want to keep reading not only because of the short chapters but because it has a lot of action including Max and her friends that were all including Max kidnapped at birth at birth and taken by scientist to be experimeted on.Their super powers including wings and super natural abilities help them save the world. Right now in my book saving the world has meant flying all overv the country and now to a place that produces almost everything people use, called Itex. Max has been captured by "erasers," humans that can morph into wolves. She has been taken to tank that make her feel hopless and been replaced by a fake Max that the flock thinks is the real Max. Fake Max is really taking the flock to be destroyed by erasers. The real Max has just escaped and found out she has the power to smell where her flock has been, she climbed through the air duct and crashes the party. This book makes me keep on edge and makes me want to keep reading because of the action. the flocks cool abilities, and to find out if the flock will destroy the erasers, find their biological parents, live to tell about being kidnapped, and crash the lab where they were taken to after being kidnapped at birth.

I am read a book called " Chasing Lincoln's Killer", by James L. Swanson. It starts out talking about how John Wilkes Booth plotted and killed Abraham Lincoln. Lewis Powell tempted to killed Secretary of State, William H. Seward. Also George Atzerodt was assigned to kill Vice President Andrew Johnson but fled because he did not want to kill him. I am right now at the part where John Wilkes Booth has just had his leg treated and are heading out again. It is nonfiction but is like a fiction mystery and I really like it. I kind of agree with Clayton because it is like the same type of book just on a different topic I like these because it puts you as the main character and you can "see" what they see and "feel" what the feel

I am reading the book "Match" by Ally Comdie. I love this book because it has suspense and it is romantic. The book has government/society officials. They chose your life, your perfect match and your job. Everyone also knows they will die when they turn 80. The main character is a girl and her name is Cassia. When people are 17 they have to go to the capital and they get their match. When it is her turn to see her match, it is her best friend Xander. They get all the infomation about each other in a little silver box with a CD in it.
She looks at her CD and she sees her match and something else. She is scared to tell someone about what she saw. Her grandfather is haveing his 80th birthday so she is going to tell him. She knows since he has to die when he turns 80, he won't be able to tell anyone. So when he dies every one in the family is sad. I can make a connection with Paige's book " The Day Before" it has romance like my book.-Lindsey Boomgarden

I was reading Meagan's post and I agree with her comment, that book is really sad and scary, I mean imagine if that ever happened to someone you knew and he is just a little boy. If that ever happened to someone I knew I would go tell the cops. I've also read the other book to it The child named it. The sad part is it is true and some parents treat their kids like that, but I don't think it's because they want to, I think it's because of something that has happened to them in the past, but the sad part is thats not always true, so people do do it on purpose because they think they can because no one really cares what they do. # Mackenzie Thurmond

I am reading "Just Listen" by Sarah Dessen. so far I love the book it is about a girl named Annabeth with 2 sisters Kirsteen and Whitney, in school she used to have a lot of best friends and some of them were mean.Annabeth had everything, she was a model, top student, and popular cheerleader. all of her friends hate her, but i have not found out why yet. I think it had something to do with one of her best friends Sophie who is mean and likes to gossip. She meets this guy named Owen who is in love with music and showes her the love of music and opens her eyes. at home her sister is fighting a eating disorder and the silence of the house does not help the situation. this is a romantic and suspenseful book. Can Annabeth confront her friends about the night Sophie and her stopped being friends? Can she find a connection with Owen? I can connect with Paige and how the girl is going through some tough times and then romance comes into the picture. Jordan Baker

I am reading "Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox". The author is Eion Colfer. I haven't read this before, but I have read all the books in the series before this one. If it's anything like the others I know it will be pretty good. I have read a little of this book but not all of it. In the beginning Artemis' mother is sick and is very close to her death bed. Well, when Artemis, Holly,No1(number one but this is how it's spelled in the book),and Quan come back to the real world, Artemis steals some of Holly's magic. When they get back, Artemis pretends that the magic was drained, but he had more than he said. When he is discussing his mom's sickness with Butler (his body guard, and that is his name) and Artemis' father. They talk about treatments. Then, Butler leaves for China to get a well trained doctor and his father goes to America to discuss treatments with some professors. Well, Artemis stays to heal his mother, but she gets a new disease that is passed on through magic. That is where I stopped in the book. The theme almost reminds me of "Red Pyramid" series which is also a fantasy series.

I am reading a book called "The Carnivourous Carnival" by Lemony Snicket. It is one of the books from the series of unfortunate events. The book is about three orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. The book begins with the three children sneaking in the trunk of their enemy's car,Count Olaf, because they have no way of traveling any where. And they end up at a worn down carnival ground. So while Olaf is busy with an old friend the children sneak out of the back of the car and diguise them selves as freaks and try to get a job in the carnival. I personaly think that this is one of the best books out of the series so far.And it also is sort of a mystery because the three oraphans are trying to figure out what happened to their friends and what Olaf did too them. I can make a connection to Keilee's post/blog because both of our books are somewhat a mystery.

I am currently reading "I'm not her" by Janet Gurtler. I have never read this book before. When I first got it I thought I wouldn't like it that much but in the end I really like this book a lot so far. It starts off with this girl named Tess. Tess is this really smart girl who likes art and wants to be in this art contest. Tess has this sister who is a beautiful girl she is captain of the volleyball team, has boys wanting her and stalking her on the internet. Tess and her friends named Melissa who would be at her locker ever day before class started. Melissa and Tess would talk about her sister and how she is stuck up and every one only notices her and not Tess. Her sister took Tess to a party and Tess didn’t want to be there. At this party this guy with pimples and smell like alcohol and was drunk sat right next to Tess on a couch and wouldn't leave her or let her alone. He was all about Tess sister and Tess hates that. And then finally Tess got to go home. The next day after Tess mom came home with her sister and was crying... because her sister ended up having cancer. Now Tess doesn’t know what to do because she realizes that she could be losing her only sister or sibling she has. I like this book because it has some drama in it and it has a little romance in it to and it is has open feelings. I made a connection with this book by putting myself in Tess shoes and seeing how it would be like to have my sister having cancer and not knowing what to do.

I am reading "the Last Apprentice" by Joseph Delaney. This is a great book for people that like somewhat magical books. Its about a young boy who is a seventh son of a seventh son. That means his dad had six siblings and he is the youngest . It's the same for the young boy. All of his brothers had apprenticeship's with all the jobs. The last job is with the spook who keeps peace with all the super natural things. That's as far as I've gotten. I don't think the school has the book but if you want to barrow it let me know. The book that I'm currently reading is called "Top 8" by Katie Finn. It's a story about a teenage girl named Madison who comes back from a family vacation in Galapagos Islands and just can't wait to check her Friendsverse profile. Soon enough, she logs on and realizes that she has a hacker on her hands. Now her only mission is to find out who it is. Her three friends Schuyeler, Lisa, and Ruth (Ruth being her closest friend) help Madison out. Madison was dreading school the next day because the hacker had written so many awful and hurtful things about everyone Madison knew. Almost the entire population at school had now loathed her. And in the process, her boyfriend, Justin, had broken up with her due to all the things said about him by the fake Madison. Now he was with the most popular girl in school. That girl being Kittson Pearson. Madison was going through very tough times, but it all gets better later on when she meets her prince charming... This book draws me in! I love all the drama and then later, the happy ending. I can connect with Lacey's post about "It's not Summer Without You" because I love summer love storys! It sounds like a great book.

i am reading the book "Stealing Bases" by Keri Mikulski. this a really a good book but it can be boring in some parts. It is about a girl Kylie her parents got divorced and now she has to live in her ex-boyfriends guest house. none of her friends know she lives in Zach's guest house because they will make fun of her. kylie tried out for softball for her senior year. It turns out the softball team is going to shut down if they dont win tournaments or the desert invataional. Then when Kylie got to the softball diamond she was looking at the best pitcher in the state Amber. kylie is also a really good pitcher her favorite coach she had been working with for years was picking the starting pitcher. Kylie thinks she will already be starting pitcher because coach Kate has worked with her. That all changes at the end of tryouts they check the list. Ambers name is put as starting pitcher and Kylie is backup pitcher. she is so depressed and is crying her eyes out when her ex-boyfriend asks her to prom and that is how far i am in the book. I like the book because it is like a guessing game you never know what decision Kylie,Amber,or Zach is going to make. Or what is the effect of decision. Over the weekend I read "A Long Way Gone" by Ismael Beah. This is a nonfiction book about Ismael,a boy soldier, who lived in the tribe of Mattru Jong, in Africa. When his whole family is killed by the rebels that are going against the country, everything changes. This book is about survival. People that are for the country put together an army forcing boys from the age of seven to fight. The Army's stategy is simple. Get the boys high on drugs so they have the energy and don't think. Just kill. I loved it. He told the hard truth no matter how discusting or harsh it was. When I read it, I don't know how many times Ismael was on the verge of death. That really showed me that God kept him safe throughout the whole thing. The whole time in fighting, what I found was weird was that he had no emotion when he killed people. His parents were locked in one of the huts and were burned to death. The generals told them that the rebels killed their families. That's the same exact thing the rebels told their soldiers. So, all the soldiers of the war fought on anger of the killing of their families. People turned to survival mode. Food and clothing were scarce. The sad thing is, these kinds of wars are still going on today. I really pondered about this. Now everything I get that is extra, I feel guilty about. This book just makes me feel like I am proud to live in America. I really want to help them because this book was the brutal, hard truth. This book has Jared written all over it. He likes the nonfiction books and the ones that tell the brutal hard facts. So Jared, if you read this blog, check it out. Believe me, you won't regret it.
As soon Clayton is done with "Behind the Bedroom Wall" I'm getting my hands on that book. That is right down my alley! I love holocaust books and that is one that I have never heard of before! Also it's coming from the point of view from a different side of the war.

Currently, I am reading Super Human (by Michael Carrol), a genetics, historic-type book. In the beginning, hundreds of thousands of years ago, Krodin trekked through sand turned into red mud from blood of many, many Egyptians. Krodin is a soldier for the Assyrian empire and is said to be a god, judging his strength. The reason of his mission to Egypt is to slay the ruler of that particular part. This is a flashback type part. Later on Lance McKendrick, a scam artist in the local area. Lance is a fair scam artist. If he can tell you can't afford it, he will let you win. If you can afford it, Lance will leave you with enough money to get home. One day, Lance was walking out of a mall when Paragon, a superhero stops him and makes him give his money to a homeless woman. Lance goes home, but on his way he sees Paragon causes a crazy guy that is thrashing around the street to crash. Paragon pulls the person out and screams "Where is it?" and calls the cops. Lance sees a briefcase and takes it up to his apartment after giving a witness report to the police. What he finds in there, is a very big surprise. Read to find out. I enjoy this book a ton, as I love violent and mysterious books. I agree with Chris. Carson Cooper - 7th Hour

In this story there are three orphans who are put in a town for the community to raise them and to protect them, even though they dont do a very good job. But now that they have befriended the Quadmire triplets the Bauldalaur orphans have an old family fortune and friends to save from the evil count olaf. I can connect to Kelsey with this this book because we are reading the same series and we are just on different books, and her book seems to hold the same mystery and suspense that I am looking for. I cant wait until i get to her book. Destiny J

The book I am reading is called Almost Home by Joan Bauer. It is about a girl named Sugar Mae Cole and her mom (Reba) who are doing well at first but then trouble appears...oh no! They find out they have to move by Friday. So on Friday they were trying to stay but they got kicked out and were now homeless. Sugar used to be a normal girl living in a home and in sixth grade. So her and her mom have to find a new place, her mom needs to find a job, and get back on track. Sugar finds a puppy and keeps her. The puppy's named Shush and was once in a home where he got kicked around. So they keep him and that is her adorable, little support. Reba used to be married but got divorced. Sugar does not like him because he gambled and drank. He also stole money from Reba and thats how they ended up on the street. Reba believes in him until the end. Reba gets put in the hospital because she gets sick. Sugar goes to live with a couple in their house. At the end they get back on track a little. I love the book because i love how happy endings come at the end. I think Sheilah Myer would love this book. -Lauren Dietsch

Currently i am reading"Now You See Her"by Jacquelyn mitchard. Its about a girl named Barnete that is an actress and goes to a school and no one thinks she can do it correctly. She got juilet for a play and romeo, a guy named Logan, like each other in real life without a play. I ussaully dont like these kinds of books but this was great because it was all about things that teens would think of or do. I would read the book Lauren Dietch is reading because it seems like a good action book.

I read Sharp Shot by Jack Higgins over the weekend. It is a book about a british spy named John Chance and his kids Jade and Rich Chase. What happens is Jade gets kidnapped by a man named Mr. Darrow. He pretends to be Ferdy McCain a veteran who is a friend of their fathers. When they swapped a artifact for Jade. However there was a small nuke hidden in it which was going to blow up a American Base in Iraq. Which would in turn give the power there to the man's uncle who runs the country. The bomb almost blows up but they stop it in time, but now a sniper is about to kill the president on the base and the man who runs the country. Luckily though John Chance shoots him in the arm and them kills the evil uncle. Finally they cover it up by saying the evil guy took the bullet for the president and he stopped a global catastrophe. This way the people who followed him will also not start something because they think he was a hero not getting killed for his potential attack on a U.S military base. This book was really good sense it always kept you guessing. It even had a ton of action which I really like in my books otherwise they seam to get boring. I think Jeb Uphoff would really enjoy this book. Since he likes books about war and this is as close as you can get to war without actually starting a war.

I am reading "Sure Fire" by Jack Higgins. This book is really good. It is about a brother and a sister and their mom died so they have to stay with their dad Chance. Their names are Rich and Jade and they feel suspicious about their dad because he hides in his lab all day long and then randomly has to leave the apartment. One day Rich and Jade decide to follow him to one of his trips out of the apartment and they follow him down a dark alley. Little do they know a woman is following them. They watch their dad stand in the alley waiting for someone and then this van comes in at high speed and two men jump out and charge Chance with crobars and guns he takes the first two out but then two more come and he is forced to surrender. He is kidnapped and that is where i am at in the story. -Dylan Smth

I am reading Beyond the Diary of Anne Frank. Anne Frank and her family are Jews. So, in the time period of 1920-1950's the Jews were not very well liked. Aldof Hitler the president of Germany at the time did not like the Jews because he thought that they had a higher power/authority. Anne Frank and her family have to go into hiding, in a place behind her dad's office. I think that this book is great because, of all the stories that tell about how Anne Frank and her family survived while they were in hiding. I would like to read Kyley's book because, I like to read about romance and people how other people feel about the other person dating the person that they like. The title of my book is Beyond the Diary of Anne Frank. The author of my book is Ruud van der Rol and Rian Verhoeven.

I am still reading "Scarlett" by Cathy Cassidy. Right now in my book her mom just sent her to the airport for Ireland to live with her dad. Scarlett's mother said to take out her tongue piercing but she refused to because Scarlett said he should love me the way I am and not for the things that I have on my body. She refused to do anything for him because for leaving her mother and her even though she does not know the truth about her parents love life at all.

The only real friend she has is her 13 year old sister, Kasey, and a new guy she just met, Carter Blume. While she is trying to have a friendship with Carter, her sister is acting strange. Her eye color changes and she starts using old launguage from century's ago. After all that she says ahe doesn't recall her weird behavior. Alexis wonders if her sister is just in a phase, or it isn't even her sister at all anymore.
